ADHD: What Are The Risk Factors?

Causes-
Many parents might blame themselves for their child’s condition, but scientists are finding increasing evidence that the causes are in fact, biological.

Environmental Agents: It is best to avoid smoking and drinking alcohol during pregnancy to prevent your child from having ADHD. Also, it has been found that a child with ADD usually has a higher level of lead composition in his body.

Genetics: Researches have found that 25% of the children whose parents have ADD are prone to it themselves, whereas the rate is 5% for the rest of the population.
Brain Injury: In very rare cases, children with a severe brain injury show signs of ADHD.

Types of Treatment-
Though ADD is a condition that affects your kid’s behavior, it doesn’t mean it could derail his life. He will definitely get better with treatment, although there is no certain cure. The treatment types include;

Medication: Stimulants that help children learn, focus and stay calm will be prescribed by the doctor. Special care should be taken to give your child the medication that suits him best, by closely monitoring his day to day activities.

Therapy: By psychologically intervening with your child, you can help him perform his tasks at school and at home in a much better way.

Medication and Therapy Combined: This will generally give the best results that help increase your child’s overall efficiency.
