Cataracts usually happen when there is a cloud-like layer on the lens of the eye. This can make one’s vision foggy even as the same greatly deteriorates as the cataract spreads. It can happen in one or both eyes and usually creates various kinds of symptoms. These including difficulties in night time driving, sensitivity towards the glare of lights, and pain as well. There are many causes for this condition including the advancement of age as well as habits like smoking. Also, in some cases, this problem may come about due to an injury when something gets lodged in the eye. There are many kinds of remedies for this condition, including natural Ayurvedic remedies that are known the world over. So let us find out the Ayurvedic measures that one can take in order to tackle an issue like cataracts.

– Triphala: This is known as wonder ingredient in Ayurvedic herbal medicine. This literally translates to three fruit and it combines Amla, Bibhitaki and Hareetaki. These three ingredients come together and help in clearing the clouds that may have come to settle on the lens of the patient, thereby giving the patient a more clear vision. This is available in a powered form and it must be soaked overnight before the water is used to wash the eyes, first thing in the morning.
– Maha Triphala Grita: This is another Ayurvedic concoction that can be used in order to soothe the cataract. This is usually known to be extremely efficient especially when the ailment is in its nascent stage. This conception mixes Triphala along with ghee or clarified butter made from pure cow’s milk. One can have about two teaspoons of this medicine mixed with warm water. It should ideally be taken twice daily so as to show any tangible results.
– Chandrodaya Vati: This herbal ingredient can be used along with honey before it is made into a paste. This paste can then be applied to the eyes so that the cataract can be dealt with, in a proper manner. The paste might irritate the eyes when it is applied, but it will greatly help in improving the blood circulation to the area so that the cloudy film can be removed from the eye gradually. This process is also known as lacrimation as it encourages the production of tears which replenishes and refreshes the lens of the eye.
– Carrot Juice: It is a well-known fact that carrots are good for the eyes. Ayurveda also recognises this fact. One can have a grapes and carrot juice twice daily so that the eyes are in a healthier state. Other vegetables like spinach and fruits like pomegranate are also known for their health benefits when it comes to Ayurvedic remedies for cataracts.
